What is your memorable East-Meet-West moment? My most memorable East-Meet-West moment was celebrating New Year's and Chinese New Year as a child. At school, our teachers taught us that eating pork on New Year's Day would inspire progress throughout the year. However, at home, we would eat the dish Ho See Fat Choy (Dried oyster and black moss), so I thought it was strange and curiously asked my mom why do we eat something that looks like hair to celebrate Chinese New Year. She explained that the food represented different wishes in Chinese culture. From this experience, I realized it is important to learn a culture by experiencing it because learning by reading or watching will only provide a surface level of knowledge.
