What is your memorable East-Meet-West moment? I am a girl taught by traditional Chinese education. No matter how hard I work, my parents would always tell me that other people's children are better than me. Although this kind of “comparative" education method is effective to some degree, it could also cause children to become sensitive and develop low self-esteem.After I came to Canada, I discovered that the education method used here is "encouragement and recognition". Parents will accept their children's differences and give them space to learn and grow. I believe if we could integrate the unique characteristics of Eastern and Western education methods, then we could better educate children.
